Bigger, Better, Stronger: OCA & C 2012 Committee The Ontario Cricket Academy and Club has bolstered its administration and club structure by the introduction of a new and highly ambitious committee for 2012. The OCAC was formed in 2003 and has risen to the top ranks of Canadian cricket by producing a steady flow of national youth team players to Canadian teams and by putting out unbeatable league sides in domestic and international competitions. The OCAC is determined to continue reaching new heights and breaking new ground in cricket development for its members with the formation of this committee. Roshan Navaratnam, has been acclaimed President of the Ontario Cricket Academy and Club for 2012. This highly respected businessman who is the CEO and President of United Car & Truck Rentals and Chairman of Cap-X Holdings, will also bring his experiences as a former Senior Executive, Aitken Spence, Sri Lanka and roles at IBM Canada, Franklin Templeton Investments Canada and Avis-Budget Group to create a strong platform for OCAC’s operations and administration. As a well recognized and venerated community figure for the last 17 years in Canada, Mr. Navaratnam served as Past President of the Josephian-Peterite Alumni Association (Canada Branch), and is currently the Director of Publicity for the Canada Sri Lanka Business Council. A former Rugby player and administrator, cricket has always been a great passion and close to Roshan Navaratnam’s heart, having represented Colombo Cricket Club in the 1990’s in the Toronto League. Club Owner, Derek Perera was thrilled to have Roshan Navaratnam on board as President, “I have known about Roshan since I was a child, so recently after some very productive conversations and meetings, I was excited that he shared with me, the same enthusiasm in helping to make OCAC the best club in Canada, both from a cricketing and administrative perspective”. Coming in as Vice President, is a highly successful entrepreneur Ranier De Lambert who has worked in the private sector in Sri Lanka as well as the Banking industry in Canada. Also a Past President of the Josephian-Peterite Alumni Association (Canada Branch) he brings many years of community involvement and outreach work to the role. Mr. De Lambert is currently in the mortgage and finance industry. Serving as Director- Inbound Trade Mission for the Canada Sri Lanka Business Council, De Lambert is no stranger to the game of cricket, having represented his alumni association team and local club sides in Canada. Also a new face to the OCAC is Gerhard Munaweera who will bring his athletic background, as an overall fitness fanatic and Rugby star for the Oakville Crusaders in the Canadian Rugby League. In Sri Lanka, he represented his school in both cricket and rugby. He is a Senior Manager in the Logistics industry and brings a wealth of experience in the field of sports administration to OCAC.
