Players look forward to Winter coaching

Gary Grewal- Senior Player:

Gary is looking to cement his spot in the OCAC top team for 2012. This is his look into 2012 Indoor Training:

How will indoor training help you?
Off Season indoor training is the best time for skill development. At the end of every season I have found things in my technique which i need to tweak, and drill work that you (Derek) assign me always improves those little parts of my technique.

What are you hoping to accomplish through the winter?
I have a habit of getting set and still not dominating the bowling and I believe its a combination of strength and vision. So in net sessions I want to be able to make sure that I put away bad balls, keeping a track of the ratio should help me track my progress

Specifically, at the end of last season Malintha (Gajanayake) asked me to work on my back lift which will help my placement and timing. these should go a long way in increasing my production. So I am hoping to work on that.

Why is it important to keep training without too much of a gap?
I believe if you are not practicing for a while all that hard work that you put into doing something right can disappear and old habits will creep in. And if you notice something about your technique at the end of your session best way to fix it is get back in their as soon as you can. Its not something you can note down and get back to afterwards.

Allahan Vijay- U-17 Player:

An tall left arm fast bowling prospect for OCAC, Allahan had this to say about Indoor Training:

"Indoor training allows us to fix errors that occurred during the outdoor season. With the ability to practice during the winter seasons, the skill set we currently posses will definitely yield greater potential. Individual improvement is surely a quality we all want to obtain, and learning from mistakes and correcting them is by far the most advanced principles of discipline we can acquire."

Arun Galva- U-15 Player:

Arun is a leg-spinning, all rounder who has worked very hard on his game over the last 2 years. He will be hoping to make a big mark in the league for 2012.

"I believe indoor is where you actually learn the proper technique and get prepared for the outdoor season. This is where you get to try all the stuff you learned in indoor in a real game."

Abraash Khan- U-15 Player:

Abraash has recently represented Canada U-15, and also made his Premier debut at the age of 13.

He feels that the " the inspiration of hard work and focus" will help him to achieve his goals for 2012.

Abaan Khan- U-13 Player:

Abaan is an excellent all-round prospect and believes that through Indoor Training he can "achieve the goals" that he has set for himself.
